B17 Movie

Recently I had the opportunity to visit and
board Sentimental Journey, a fully restored
B17 G. I was also able to talk with the Flight
Engineer and he was very helpful in explaining
all technical questions I had which helped
make this project possible.

I would also like to point out that the B-17 is
very complex and while it was not possible to
simulate every procedure required to fly the
real thing, I made every attempt to bring the
experience as close as possible.
The placement of certain instruments and
controls are for practicality so may not reflect
the true position as such. The paint scheme is
from an aircraft that served in the 303rd
Bomber Group - Molesworth, England.

This project is being created in a third party 3D program and has very
fine details which include working bomb-bay doors, a complete bomb
load, and working guns. It also features a Virtual 3D Cockpit and many
custom instruments, plus a complete crew. The main controls are
animated as are most of the switches. The windows have a semi
transparent effect so much of the interior can be viewed from outside
the aircraft. This project first begun with version 6.00 of X-Plane and
has been updated through version 7.00 and 8.00 with over 20,000
combined downloads. BTW, the pilot figure is me, this is as close as I
could get to flying the real thing.......
